Entries open for Abuja Film Fest

 Organisers of the prestigious Abuja International Film Festival (AIFF) announced the official opening of submission of entries for the 2014 edition of the event.

The festival, which is the largest and longest running Independent film festival in Anglophone West Africa, is scheduled to take place from in September at the Prestigious Silverbird Cinemas Abuja.

The organisers said the 11th edition will feature the screening of over 60 cutting-edge films from around the world with a special focus on films from the Nigerian Movie Industry called Nollywood and Africa.

They said the film festival will also presents screenings in schools where cinemas are non-existent.

A statement on the eligibility of entries said the festival will consider films completed between 2011 and 2013, and that there would be no charge for entry. 

“All submissions must be entered via the filling of the entry form online at www.abujafilmfestng.org. The deadline for all entries, including receipt of samples, is 15th of July 2014 for all film entries. Entries are accepted in Features, Shorts, Documentaries, Experimental,” a statement from the festival organisers said.

The statement also noted that an extensive seminar, panel discussions and master-class workshop programme featuring local and international filmmakers and industry professionals will hold simultaneously with the daily screening of films.
